Mary Lance serves on many boards that relate to prayer and evangelism and considers herself a bridge builder in the Body of Christ, with a special love for the local church. She travels throughout the world as a prayer leader and teacher of the art of friendship evangelism - a lifestyle of love, with an emphasis on your own neighborhood.
In 1998 Mary Lance authored the book, LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF, which is being used worldwide and has been translated into many languages including Spanish, Arabic, French, Chinese and Croatian.
She is a member of the Facilitation Committee (Board of Directors) of the Mission America Coalition and serves as Chairman of the National Lighthouse Council for this movement. She is a member of the International Council of Women of Global Action (formerly the AD2000 Women’s Track). In addition, she is a member of the United States National Prayer Committee.
She served as a member of the Board of Directors of Aglow International from 1991-2000 and is now serving as a Consultant to that Board and is the Evangelism Resource Person for Aglow USA.
From 1980-1985, Mary Lance served as a member of the National Leadership Team for Lydia Fellowship in the United States. She also served on Joni Eareckson Tada’s Joni and Friends Board of Directors from 1988-1993 where she coordinated the prayer support for three of Joni’s symposiums on the Church and Disabilities.
With her husband, Bob, she served from 1986-1998 as a Prayer Coordinator for Leighton Ford Ministries. She also taught on prayer and evangelism at the LFM Evangelism Leadership Seminars for younger leaders and is now a lead trainer with Arrow Ministries based in Vancouver, B.C. The Arrow Leadership Program was founded by Leighton Ford and then later handed over to one of his graduates.
In 1988 Mary Lance, along with eight other women, founded Second Fridays for Praying Women for Charlotte, NC and served as Chairman from 1988-2000. She and Bob founded the Metrolina Prayer Network in January of 1989 and she is Co-Chair of this movement.
In addition, Mary Lance served on the Executive Committee of The CoMission as Chairman of the Prayer Committee (1993-1997) and was one of the Vice-Chairmen of the Carolinas Billy Graham Crusade held in Charlotte, North Carolina, September 26-29, 1996.
Mary Lance and Bob are members of Central Church of God, where she serves as a lead trainer for the Women’s Ministries prayer movement.
Mary Lance and Bob have been married for 48 years and were born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina where they became childhood sweethearts. They are the parents of five children (one is with the Lord) and grandparents of nine.
