Rev. Dale Schlafer - Biographical Sketch
Dale Schlafer has served as Cofounder and President of the Center for
World Revival and Awakening since 1998. The Center is a worldwide ministry
dedicated to building the local church by promoting the revival of the
church, the awakening of the lost, and the reformation of our society.
(For more information, see the Center's web page at www.revivalandawakening.org)
By working with existing groups and organizations, especially with pastors
and church leaders, the Center hopes to see the church of Jesus Christ
come alive, bringing the greatest harvest of the lost in history. As
Pastor Schlafer says: "When revival is the experience of the church,
evangelism becomes the expression of the church. When evangelism is
the expression of the church, a changed society will be the evidence
of those changed lives."
Prior to establishing the Center for World Revival and Awakening, Pastor
Schlafer served with Promise Keepers as vice-president for revival and
awakening (1996-1998), and vice-president of church relations (1994-1996).
Initially, he served as chairman of the board at Promise Keepers from
the ministry's inception to 1994. His love for the clergy and heart
for men's ministries found expression through Promise Keepers.
Pastor Schlafer served for twenty-two years as senior pastor of South
Fellowship in Littleton, Colorado, and six years as a senior pastor
in New Jersey.
Dale was director for the "Clergy 96-Fan Into Flame" conference, an
unprecedented gathering of 40,000 pastors held in Atlanta in February
of 1996. He also served as the director of "Stand In The Gap-A Sacred
Assembly of Men," which was held in Washington D. C. in October of 1997
and attended by 1.3 million men. Both of these events had revival and
awakening at their very core.
He was a contributing author for the books,
Seven Promises of a Promise
Keeper, The Lighthouse Movement,
Effective Men's Ministry,
Fighting On Your Knees, and has authored the
A Revival Primer,
and the just released, spring 2003, Revival 101-How Christ Ignites His
Church. Through his speaking and writing commitments, he conveys a real
understanding of church life.
He has substantial international experience, speaking and ministering
on every continent except Australia. Over 450 members of his churches
have participated in short term mission projects all over the world. Two
churches have been planted, one being in Bombay, India. This world mindset
has been passed on to thirty-eight men and women who entered fulltime
cross-cultural missionary service.
Pastor Schlafer committed his life to Christ at a very early age. His
call to pastoral ministry came in 1961. Pastor Schlafer, a native of Philadelphia,
holds a B. A. from Westminster College of Pennsylvania and a Masters of
Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary.
Pastor Schlafer currently lives in Colorado and has been married to Liz
for thirty-eight years. They have three grown children: Tracey, Todd,
and Kyle.
