Narnia: A Unique Opportunity
2005 brought a unique opportunity for the Mission America Coalition team to mobilize churches and ministries across the country in support of the evangelism opportunity afforded by the release of “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.” MAC leaders became convinced that the film, based on the compelling stories of the beloved Christian author C.S. Lewis, had potential for reaching deep into the culture with the gospel message, and reaping a great harvest for the Kingdom.
As a result, Mission America convened meetings of Christian leaders in over 150 cities and provided information, resources, and encouragement to use this film as a teaching opportunity in pulpits and classrooms, and as an outreach opportunity in hundreds of communities across America. This remarkable fantasy and adventure movie—with the gospel message woven deeply into its characters and themes—opened to a record audience, and captured the imaginations of the young and old alike. Through Narnia, leaders caught the potential of reaching our cities and communities for Christ with the gospel message through popular media. Leaders are now exploring many more opportunities through partnership with the Mission America Coalition.
